A plane departing Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport in Broomfield crashed Saturday morning shortly after takeoff.
Two people were killed in a small plane crash in Colorado on May 17. The plane left Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport in Broomfield at around 10 a.m. local time and crashed shortly after takeoff. Officials said the pilot was 'trying to return to the airport due to an issue' when the crash occurred.
“Any runway you need. Any runway. You are cleared to land,” Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport’s tower reportedly told the pilot. After repeating the announcement three times, another pilot is heard telling the tower that the plane had crashed.

North Metro Fire Rescue District reported the plane crash at 10:24 a.m., and a spokesperson later said at least one occupant had died.
