The paddock remains discontent with Roger Penske's roles in the IndyCar series after another scandal bringing conflict of interest concerns into full view.
The first day of qualifying set positions 13 through 30 on the grid for the Indy 500. The top 12 and the last chance qualifiers will be determined on Sunday, May 18th.
McLaren Racing chief Zak Brown said the scandal that has embroiled Team Penske ahead of the Indy 500 “raises questions over the integrity” of its decision-makers. Penske was found to have illegally modified the rear accentuator on the cars of Josef Newgarden and Will Power during qualifying on Sunday, sending shockwaves down the paddock.
Pole position for the 2025 Indianapolis 500 is on the line today when the top 12 qualifiers from Saturday take to the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval. The last row for the May 25 race will also be determined and one driver will be bumped from the 33-car starting grid.
