Morant has been suspended multiple times in the past for incidents involving actual guns. In 2023, he was suspended eight games after flashing a gun on Instagram at a Colorado nightclub. Then, in May of the same year, he was suspended 25 more games after again showing off a gun while in a car during another Instagram video.

Morant, who has been suspended by the NBA for gun-related incidents in recent seasons, ignored a warning given to him earlier the same day.

The NBA announced Friday it’s fining the Grizzlies star $75,000 for using the gun gesture on the court this week, even after the league issued him a warning. The five-figure hit stemmed from Morant “twice making an inappropriate gesture” in the Grizzlies’ 110-108 victory over the Heat.
