New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone supports Devin Williams as the closer despite the front office adding strong depth to the bullpen.

Two-time All-Star closer Devin Williams has not been what the New York Yankees expected this season, and they acted accordingly at the Trade Deadline. The club acquired David Bednar from the Pittsburgh Pirates, Camilo Doval from the San Francisco Giants, and Jake Bird from the Colorado Rockies to shore up the bullpen depth on Thursday.

According to the New York Post's Joel Sherman, the Yankees have discussed deals involving right-handed reliever Devin Williams. He was quick to note that he isn't a lock to be moved just because his name has been mentioned in trade talks, however.
