Saturday is a First Alert 6 Weather Day due to the accumulating snow impacts to morning and early afternoon travel.

Rain will start to push through in the early morning hours of your Saturday, then it will become more widespread and heavy as we head into the afternoon hours. Some places will get a little bit of a break Saturday night before it ramps up again for the day on Sunday.

A First Alert Weather Day is issued due to high-impact weather conditions for a specific day. Once a First Alert Day is announced, viewers will see an alert sign on the 7-day forecast and red weather graphics on our online platforms and social media.

A cold front is expected to move over the western half of the state with a second, stronger front approaching late Sunday night.

This warm air will set the stage, though, for a strong line of storms to race across the state Saturday night into Sunday morning. Within this line, swaths of powerful wind could develop and create spotty areas of tree damage and/or power outages.

Moderate snow will continue Friday night into early Saturday morning. Almost the whole state is under a Winter Weather Advisory through 6 AM Saturday. Most of us are looking at about as high as 3-5″ of snow with the potential for higher accumulations further south.
