Warner Bros. Discovery makes a high-profile about-face two years after stripping the 'HBO' brand from the streaming service’s name.

As of Wednesday, HBO Max is no longer Max and is back to being HBO Max, just on the Max platform. We know, it’s confusing. Either way, it appears that X (fka Twitter) is not playing ball with all of this back and forth — or at any rate, it has not played ball yet .

Max is returning to its former name — HBO Max — beginning immediately. Users of the streaming service, which is owned by CNN’s parent company Warner Bros. Discovery, will see the new-ish name roll out Wednesday, the company announced.
