Iran on Monday struck a U.S. military base in Qatar in retaliation of B-2 bomber airstrikes on three nuclear sites two days ago, the Iranian government confirmed.

In the hours after Iran launched a missile attack on a US base in Qatar, President Donald Trump and a group of his top diplomatic and security officials worked furiously behind-the-scenes to try to broker a peace deal to end the conflict between Iran and Israel.

There was no immediate response from Iran or Israel, and it was unclear if the day’s events would give the U.S. and Iran an off-ramp from their confrontation.
