Dean Burmester captured his second LIV Golf individual title by winning the 2025 LIV Golf Chicago tournament, held on August 10 at Bolingbrook Golf Club in Illinois. In a tight three-way playoff, Burmester defeated Jon Rahm and Josele Ballester after all three finished with 9-under par totals (204 strokes).
By the end of Round 1, it was Fireballs GC Captain Sergio Garcia who emerged from a congested leaderboard to earn a share of the lead after shooting a 4-under 67. Garcia’s rollercoaster round included eight birdies and four bogeys. Last year, the Spaniard finished T2 at Bolingbrook and figures to be in contention once again this week.
Justin Rose’s playoff win on NBC drew the FedEx St. Jude Championship’s largest audience in years, nearly 3 million more than LIV Chicago on Fox.
Per the LIV website: "Players finishing 49th or lower in the points standings after LIV Golf Indianapolis will be relegated from the league and could return only by playing their way back into the league via winning The International Series crown (Asian Tour) or through LIV Golf Promotions."
