U.S. Rep. Mike Collins launched his 2026 U.S. Senate campaign over the weekend with an ad that misspelled his home state of Georgia.

Georgia Congressman Mike Collins from Jackson entered the race, becoming the second Peach State Republican in Congress to announce a bid. He joins Savannah-area Congressman Buddy Carter, and those two may not be the last to declare a run on the GOP side.

Collins also had his TRANQ Act signed into law by then-President Joe Biden in 2023. That legislation directed the National Institute of Standards and Technology to study xylazine and synthetic opioids, which have taken a high toll on the lives of Americans. Collins was the first freshman member of the 118th Congress to have a bill signed into law.
