New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani on Wednesday announced an all-female team of co-chairs for his transition team, including former Federal Trade Commission chair Lina Khan.

Zohran Mamdani stormed to victory in the New York City mayoral elections with a pledge to improve the quality of life for the city’s eight and half million residents.

When Zohran Mamdani becomes mayor, he will immediately have to confront a host of issues that have little to do with “freezing the rent,” his main housing-related pledge.

During his campaign, Mamdani visited a Clinton Hill senior center and took time to listen to residents' concerns. Ester Geddis, who was photographed with Mamdani during the visit, is living on a fixed income. She said she hopes he'll help keep costs down.

Mamdani named a transition team that included former city and federal officials, nonprofit executives, and City Hall veterans.

Serial fabulist Santos had previously vowed to quit the Big Apple if Mamdani won. In a new video posted on social media, a visibly angry Santos fumed over the result before signing off with: “Good luck, New York. It was nice knowing you. After 37 years, I’m out.”

National figures are competing in different ways to make Mamdani a Democratic symbol amid a consequential next chapter of his rise: running New York City.
