The final days of the primary for New Jersey governor have, at times, looked more like a general election. The Democrats’ perceived frontrunner, Rep. Mikie Sherrill, has been attacked by her primary opponents over old stock trades and prior donations from Elon Musk’s company’s PAC.

Steve Fulop was almost done answering questions about his campaign for governor Saturday afternoon when he decided to pose a question of his own.

The battle is drawing national attention because New Jersey is one of only two states this year — along with Virginia — holding gubernatorial elections in 2025. And they’re the first big races after President Donald Trump returned to office this year, making it an early barometer for what the public thinks of his controversial new administration.
