Thousands of demonstrators — at least 6,500, organizers estimated — marched through New Orleans on Saturday as part of “No Kings Day,” a coordinated nationwide protest against authoritarianism and political overreach.
The local rally begins with a parade at the corner of Mandeville and Decatur streets and will end at Washington Square Park on Elysian Fields Avenue. Organizers say the event will include local speakers and performances by New Orleans-based bands. The protest is expected to begin around 2 p.m.
