Attacks by Sudan's Rapid Support Forces have killed more than 200 people over the past three days, activists said on Tuesday, as the paramilitary group delayed signing a political charter that could pave the way for a breakaway government.

Sudanese officials and rights groups say insurgent attacks by the paramilitary Rapid Support Force have killed hundreds of civilians, including infants, in White Nile state.

KHARTOUM -- Sudan's government on Tuesday said that 433 civilians were killed in attacks by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on villages in White Nile State.

The attack on the White Nile state villages of Al-Kadaris and Al-Khelwat, some 100 kilometres (60 miles) south of the capital, sent thousands fleeing, witnesses told AFP.

Sudan's Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the paramilitary group targeted civilians in the past few days in villages in the al-Gitaina area.

The Emergency Lawyers network said the attacks happened in al-Kadaris and al-Khelwat towards the north of White Nile state - areas where the military had no presence. RSF fighters were guilty of "executions,
