WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump faces the challenge of convincing Republican senators, global investors, voters and even Elon Musk that he won’t bury the federal government in debt with his multitrillion-dollar tax breaks package.

Passing the massive tax package was a grueling process in the House — but its future in the Senate doesn’t look any easier.

But fealty to Mr. Trump is not without risk in November’s general election. Democrats control New Jersey’s State House and Democratic voters still vastly outnumber Republicans, despite the G.O.P.’s recent success in narrowing the gap to about 800,000 voters.
