Amazon’s new policy is creating a “hostile act” against the Trump administration, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. The massive retailer owned by multi-billionaire Jeff Bezos announced Tuesday it will start showing how much the price of items are increasing due to President Donald Trump's tariffs.

The White House lashed out at Amazon on Tuesday for reportedly planning to display how much of a product’s cost comes from Trump’s tariffs. Doing so would emphasize to consumers that U.S. tariffs are not paid by overseas companies, but by the American companies importing the goods, and then largely passed on to customers.

The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, attacked the retail giant over a report that suggested Amazon would highlight tariff-related price increases. Amazon said it was “not going to happen.
