Apple's iPhone 16e marketing and trade-in pricing is designed specifically to get iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 users to upgrade.

Apple is hard at work promoting the new iPhone 16e in a way that only Apple can. Tim Cook and his team are literally comparing Apples to Apples.

The iPhone 16e has conventional lens stabilisation, where a little motor moves elements of the lens to compensate for movement in the user’s hand. The iPhone 16 has more unusual (in phones) sensor stabilisation, where it’s the sensor chip underneath the lens that moves. It’s more effective. But either is great to have.
