Oracle announced the release of a free version of its Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF) that runs on the open-source GlassFish platform.

Oracle is hoping it can attract more developers with MAF (Mobile Application Framework), which aims to simplify the development of cross-platform enterprise apps for smartphones and tablets.

Oracle has released a mobile client and associated framework, nearly two years in the making, to help developers quickly build Java applications for industrial mobile devices.
