WASHINGTON (7News) — D.C.'s beloved Yoshino cherry tree known as "Stumpy" was removed from the Tidal Basin this spring, but hope remains as cuttings from the tree have taken root.
The Japanese flowering cherry trees now in serene flower around Washington's Tidal Basin are, for the most part, clones of a single plant favored in 19th-century Tokyo and named Somei-Yoshino.
