The Department of Justice has launched a probe into the city of Chicago's hiring practices in what Chicago mayor Brandon Johnson has quickly labeled the latest hostile attack on diversity by the Trump administration.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Mayor Brandon Johnson says he's done everything he can to keep the Bears in Chicago. Recently, the team said it's focusing on Arlington Heights for a new stadium instead of one along the Chicago lakefront. The Bears purchased the old Arlington racetrack property two years ago.

Ishan Daya was one of 20 appointees to Johnson’s new Chicago Fiscal Sustainability Working Group. His website identifies him as a community organizer focused on public safety and mental health.

If the plan backed by Chicago Police Supt. Larry Snelling wins the endorsement of the City Council’s Public Safety Committee at the meeting set for 1 p.m. Tuesday, a final vote could take place as soon as Wednesday.

Johnson invited youth leaders to speak at city hall to share what they want to see from city leaders on how to better support Chicago youth.
