The first two years of NASCAR’s Chicago Street Race were accented by rain, but maybe the third edition will be a charm for fans and drivers.

The NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series head to the Chicago street course for the third straight season this weekend. The Xfinity Series will practice, qualify and race in The Loop 110 on July 5, with Shane van Gisbergen in the field for the first time this year.

One full weekend of cooperative weather would be nice. You could even call it a parting gift if you like. That's right, this is looking like it'll be the final Chicago Street Race — the third installment of NASCAR's original three-year contract with the city.
