Even when the storied ball club won its 2024 NBA Championship, the Celtics did not exactly have the stoutest big man rotation, with Latvian center Kristaps Porzingis missing large chunks of the regular season and playoffs due to injury and vet big Al Horford sitting out back-to-back games to avoid the decline in play seen when Horford was on court for too many minutes.

A drop-off is expected for the Celtics this season on the heels of Jayson Tatum’s injury and several offseason departures creating a far different Boston roster. However, one NBA analyst sees a significant plunge looming for the 2024 NBA champions towards the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

The Boston Celtics have been among the top teams in the league in recent years, but they are facing a much different reality next season. When the Celtics tip off the 2025-26 season, they won’t be among the top contenders to come out of the Eastern Conference.
