More snow is on the way after Iowa was hit by a winter storm that brought up to 11 inches of accumulation in some areas of the state.

Winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings go into effect tonight through early Thursday for all of eastern Iowa. Look for snow to develop overnight and become moderate to heavy at times. Confidence is high that this will be an impactful event, with widespread snowfall amounts ranging from 3 to 9 inches.

After hitting California, the same system will move across the country this weekend bringing another threat for heavy snow, flooding rain and significant severe thunderstorms.
