While Rantanen has yet to decide whether he wants to remain in Carolina long-term, Wednesday brought an update on the other player the Hurricanes acquired in the trade: Hall.

The often overlooked part of the Carolina Hurricanes' blockbuster trade this past January that saw them acquire Mikko Rantanen from the Colorado Avalanche for Martin Necas and Jack Drury was that the Canes also acquired forward Taylor Hall from the Chicago Blackhawks.

Mikko Rantanen is not off to a good start with the Hurricanes after being shockingly dealt by the Avalanche in January. His fit through nine games has been awkward enough to inspire another round of Rantanen trade rumors ahead of the NHL trade deadline.

Despite the stalling contract talks between the Carolina Hurricanes and Mikko Rantanen, there’s no guarantee that the Hurricanes will look to deal the Finnish winger before next week’s trade deadline.
