More than a week after the deadly shooting near the CDC and Emory University, pieces are still being put together of the details of what happened.

Police in Atlanta say the suspect is dead after a shooting near Emory University and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention headquarters.

According to GBI, Patrick Joseph White fired 500 shots with nearly 200 hitting buildings at the CDC. Documents have been found referencing COVID-19 vaccine. Guns belonged to father and were secured, but White was able to take them.

Runners at the Atlanta’s Finest 5K race on Saturday raised money for the family of DeKalb County police Officer David Rose, who was killed in the line of duty last week.

Downtown Atlanta was filled with high energy Saturday morning as more than a thousand runners, walkers, and first responders participated in the annual Atlanta’s Finest 5K.

The Uvalde Foundation for Kids, a national nonprofit formed after the 2022 elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, announced it will award Rose a posthumous commendation for heroism, according to a press release. The date for the award presentation has not been set.

The quality of information around vaccines came into the spotlight after the CDC headquarters shooting. The gunman, Patrick White, who shot nearly 200 rounds at the building and killed a security guard, blamed a Covid vaccine for his mental health issues, including depression.
