A plume of dust from the Saharan Desert is expected to sweep across the Gulf Coast this week, bringing hazy skies and reduced air quality to millions from Texas to Florida.

A plume of thick dust suspended in the atmosphere is moving westward across the Caribbean Sea and is expected to reach Florida on Wednesday. Areas in its path can expect haze, locally poor air quality and the potential for vibrant morning and evening skies.

Hilton Head is experiencing lower air quality due to Canadian wildfire smoke. Just as that haze will leave the state, dust from the Sahara Desert will arrive and poor air quality will likely continue.
