INDYCAR penalized Josef Newgarden and Penske teammate Will Power by sending them to the rear of the field for the 109th Indy 500 for modifying spec parts.

Two-time defending Indianapolis 500 winner Josef Newgarden and Team Penske teammate Will Power will have to start from the final two spots on the grid Sunday.

One of the major stories from Sunday’s qualifying sessions at the Indianapolis 500 was Team Penske withdrawing both the No. 2 car of Josef Newgarden and the No. 12 car of Will Power, after technical inspections found a modified attenuator on both cars.
