Liberty shocked the NCAA softball tournament by defeating No. 1 seed Texas A&M, but it's not satisfied heading to Oregon in the super regionals.

The Oregon softball team held off Liberty in Game 1 of the super regional in the 2025 NCAA Tournament at Jane Sanders Stadium.

For the first time in DI softball history, the top overall seed in the tournament has failed to advance from its own regional.

Dorothy "Dot" Richardson is the fifth coach in Liberty softball program history and was hired by the program on July 17, 2013. The Flames were coming off a 20-37 record and a second straight losing year under Paul Wetmore. He retired following the 2013 season after a 10-year stint as the coach.
