The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) illegally directed its flight attendant members to defy a direction from the Canadian Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) to return to work, said Canada's largest airline in a news release. It will resume flights as of Monday evening, said Air Canada.
The federal government is stepping in to resolve a labour dispute between Air Canada and the union representing flight attendants, Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu revealed on Saturday. Hajdu told journalists she is ordering binding arbitration and operations to resume.
