President Vladimir Putin says he has secured Israel’s pledge to safeguard Russian personnel at Iran’s Russia-built nuclear power plant and that he has reached out to both sides to try to end the week-old war.

Missiles continue to rule the skies in Israel and Iran as the two sides escalated the ongoing conflict to the seventh day. Israel asked its citizens in two cities to leave and take shelter due to imminent Iranian strikes.

Israel accuses Iran of seeking to build a nuclear bomb and says it is acting before that can happen. The U.S. is also considering strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. Iran says its nuclear program is for civil energy purposes.
