Four games. Four overtimes. That’s a lot of applesauce. The Frost found ways to keep their energy up through all the extra periods and still play their game. They remained patient as they probed what turned out to be a human wall in Ottawa goaltender Gwyneth Philips.

One can only hope that what comes next after the 2025 title celebration is a bit more calm than followed last year’s title.

Katy Knoll scored a goal in the third overtime and Maddie Rooney finished with 35 saves to help the Minnesota Frost beat the Ottawa Charge 2-1 on Saturday night and take a 2-1 lead in the third straight overtime game of the PWHL championship series.

Rooney and her defensive teammates stood out as Minnesota snagged another tight playoff win, defeating Ottawa in Game 3 of the PWHL Finals.
