After the Eagles mounted a defense against the potential ban of its most successful and controversial play, a vote on the Packers' proposal for a rule change failed.
The controversial “tush push” play will not be banned for the upcoming NFL season, according to multiple reporters covering the owners’ meeting in Minnesota.
For cited reasons including health and safety and pace of play, a large group of teams who believe pushing has no place in football attempted to ban the tush push. Those efforts came up short, with 10 teams voting down the efforts to ban it on Wednesday.
The tush push lives on. The controversial play did not receive enough votes to ban the play on Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The final vote was 22-10. At least 24 votes were needed for it to be banned.
