It can be a form of stimming (self-stimulatory behavior) or a way to regulate sensory input. It’s also sometimes linked to motor planning differences. Because I have an autistic child, I had a better understanding of traits to look out for and my son (my second) engaged in finger posturing consistently. But context really matters.
